It is a real blessing to watch and you will hear the true meaning of Christmas.
A question we get often is why do you only put 2 hours on a DVD? The answer is simple. It’s all about quality and compatibility. When you put more data on a DVD you have to compress the video even more. The type DVD most commonly used in tape to DVD conversion is a DVD-R single layer this type disc holds a maximum of 4.7gb of data it uses around 300mb for the DVD directory like chapters menus and such. Since you are trying to preserve your tape transfers it would not make sense to degrade them even more by lowering the bit rate at which you have them transferred at. One other issue we have experienced at the lower bit rates is decreased compatibility with some DVD players.
The goal of transfer is to carry your videos into the future as long as possible and to keep the quality as good as possible.
2 hours is at 7.5mb per second and maintains very good quality on a DVD. Happy Transfers.
